Here is the latest update from Holland, Columbus and
DisneyWorld.
On the weekend of 27th/28th May we flew to Eindhoven in
Holland to attend the Dutch StarCon. There was a great mixture
of guests from film and TV. What made the convention so
different was a reunion of the actors from the TV series "Allo
Allo" which is still a big hit in Holland. It was good to meet
up with the cast who I knew or had worked with in the past.
Several of the actors had their original costumes and performed
a very funny sketch - I found myself laughing out loud, and
wanting the show to go on and on.
Pieter Soet who ran the convention has to be applauded for
bringing the guys over from England for their first ever
convention.
The event was held in an hotel which gave it a wonderful
atmosphere. On Saturday evening a barbeque was arranged for
guests and fans. Due the awful weather this had to be moved
indoors.
I was given a rather delightful sketch by a young girl called
Linda - she has a promising future as an artist. Also during the
weekend another wonderful work of art was shown to me by its
proud creator.
Fellow Star Wars guests were Caroline Blakiston, Dave Prowse,
Kenny Baker and Andy Secombe. It was a pleasure to welcome Andy
to the event - it was the first time we had met.
A great show and it is always a pleasure to be in Holland -
good food, good beer and good company.
On June 1st we were off again to the airport, this time to
Columbus, Ohio. I had been invited to attend the opening of the
'Star Wars - Where Science meets Imagination' exhibition at the
COSI Museum. We arrived in dreadful weather - the storms seem to
be following us around. I was up at the crack of dawn the
following morning for radio and TV interviews. Later in the day
we were taken to the COSI museum to look at the exhibition. It
was fascinating to see some of the original costumes and props.
Ed Rodley (the designer from the Boston museum) had done a great
job.
The event was due to open at midnight, so we were treated to
a great meal arranged by Brian. Later that evening there was a
reception for all the VIP guests and the chef had triumphed in
producing two amazing cakes.
As midnight approached it was incredible to see how many
people had gathered to see the exhibition, there were also lots
of children who were very well behaved for such a late hour.
After the exhibition opened I was signing autographs until
around 03.15am when eventually they had to cut the line off. It
had been a great success. It was off to bed for a couple of
hours sleep before being back at 09.00 am the following morning.
It was very busy again on Saturday, and I was delighted to be
presented with a painting of a much younger looking me!
The 501st were there in force. Originally only around 100
were expected, but in fact more like 150 turned up. Maureen &
were invited to have lunch with the garrisons, and then everyone
posed for photos.
In the evening there was no escaping the 501st - they took
over a ballroon in our hotel for yet another party. Although I
had only one glass of beer I thought I was seeing double.
Sunday was a free day and Sarah who was the PR lady and her
boyfriend Kelly very kindly took us to the Muirfield Village
Golf Club to watch the final day of the Memorial Tournament. The
weather had been atrocious for three days, but luckily stayed
fine for most of Sunday. We walked part of the course and
managed to get lost, we found ourselves in a hospitality marquee
and on asking directions were immediately invited to sit down
for some refreshments. Everyone was so friendly.
Our last evening was spent with the organisers from COSI and
Chad Ball and his wife - Chad had been instrumental in arranging
my visit, and had worked extremely hard to make it possible.
We had a fantastic time and if any of you go to Columbus do
visit the COSI exhibition.
Monday morning and it was off to the airport to travel to
Orlando and the Star Wars Weekends. We were met at the airport
by our tour guide Anthony who has worked with us many times in
the past. We had three days to relax and catch up from the lack
of sleep in Columbus, but Anthony had different ideas and
whisked us to some of the wonderful authentic restaurants in
Epcot. Many thanks Anthony.
The firework display at Epcot which happens every evening is
something not to be missed.
Over the next couple of days we dined in style and got see
some of the attractions.
After three days of enjoying ourselves and behaving like five
year olds it was time to begin the final Star Wars Weekend. A
suprise guest was Rick McCallum who had enjoyed his first visit
so much he decided to return.
The days started with a signing, followed by the parade.
Warwick Davis had been the Master of Ceremonies for all four
Star Wars Weekends, and what a splendid job he did. Every day he
surprised us with a different format for the stage show. My
fellow guest was Temeura Morrison, so it was a show of the
Fetts.
Temeura entertained us and had us all performing the Haaka -
a Maori war dance.
After a few attempts we managed to get the Mickey song
correct - I think the ears helped!
On the final day Warwick was presented with a wonderful
statue of a Jedi Mickey, and all the famous faces of Disney came
on stage to bid us farewell.
It was back to the Hollywood Hideaway to say goodbye to all
at Disney and fellow guests.
On our last evening we went with Anthony to our favourite
restaurant - The California Grill. The views are spectacular,
and gave us an opportunity for a sunset photo over the Magic
Kingdom - what a great way to end the trip, and thanks to all at
Disney for a great weekend.
That's all for now folks - we are off to Italy to visit our
family, and hopefully some more glorious sunsets.
Hi Everyone
Sorry for the delay on this latest update, but have had
teething problems with the new computer.
At the end of April we made our first transatlantic trip this
year, to Comic Con in Dallas. It was great to see old friends
again like Denise who battled through a thunderstorm to collect
us from the airport, and Kathy who was always on hand to see to
our every need at the show. As I had not been to Dallas for two
years there were plenty of fans who wanted to see Boba again.
Unfortunately Maureen pressed the wrong button on our digital
camera and managed to delete all the photos taken at the show,
so we only have a couple taken by artist Cat Staggs who kindly
emailed them to me. Dave Dorman was a guest at the show and
painted a special picture for the programme that portrayed Boba
carrying off Harrison Ford's lady (Marion from Raiders of the
Lost Ark). It was my first chance to meet the lovely actress
Karen Allen who was also a guest. Other guests included Dwight
Schulz and artists Tim Bradstreet and Tom Hodges.
Many thanks to Ben Stevens and Philip Wise for putting on a
very nice show.
On Sunday evening Angie & Peter Mayhew drove over and we all
went out to dinner to catch up with the latest news.
We stayed on for a few days with Philip and his wife Anne,
which worked out very well as Master Replicas signing.
Officialpix are bringing out a new larger image of Boba and I
got to sign those too.
Next was a short hop to Las Vegas where we were going to
appear for two days at the Antiquities shop at Caesars Palace.
We were met by bubbly Julie who drove us to the Luxor hotel that
was to be our home for the next four days.
Every time we visit Vegas it seems to have grown. On our
first evening we went to the Aladdin Hotel where we ate their
superb buffet that features food from around the world. We also
had the chance to see the amazing music and water display
outside the Bellagio Hotel.
Back at the Luxor casino I found a Star Wars slot machine,
and decided that if I was going to gamble a few dollars what
better way than to play Star Wars.
On Friday we went to the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace where
I met up with fellow guest David Barclay (chief puppeteer inside
Jabba), and also Brian Eick (the promoter). We set up in the
rather expensive shopping mall and with the help of Storm
Troopers, Darth Vader and Boba attracted a lot of attention. It
was interesting to meet so many British people who were on
vacation. Many people were surprised to see two Star Wars actors
in Caesars Palace and decided to buy gifts for friends and
family. The atmosphere was perfect for the two day event.
On Saturday, one of the fans asked me if I could be a
surprise guest at his friends wedding reception that was taking
place in the Four Seasons Hotel that evening. I agreed, but
mentioned that I had no jacket to wear to such a smart
reception. The fan said it would be no problem "you are Boba
Fett". When we arrived at the reception with our entourage of
Star Wars characters we were kept hidden until the appropriate
moment. On cue to strains of the "Imperial March" we made our
entrance. I presented the groom with a copy of my book, and a
signed figure of Boba Fett.
We were then invited to join the festivities, it was a
wonderful end to our stay in Vegas.
Our next event was a short trip to Swindon, UK where we
attended a special dinner for fans arranged by Luke Skywalker
(Yes, its his real name). It took place at the Marriott Hotel
and sixteen Star Wars guests had been invited. The dining room
had been beautifully decorated with many Star Wars models, and
all the actors changed tables for each course that meant people
had plenty of time to relax and chat to everyone. The evening
lasted well into the small hours, and I heard that the last
people crawled into bed around 3.00a.m (not me!)
The following day the dining room had been miraculously
transformed into a convention hall with dealer's tables and the
same wonderful display of characters.
There were a lot of small children at the show and it was
wonderful to see their faces when they saw so many Star Wars
characters and the actors who portrayed them.
After the show we decided to drive to Bath and spend the
evening at the Residence, a recently opened, very smart hotel,
that is being managed by friend and fellow actor Richard Le
Parmentier. All the rooms were exquisitely decorated, and the
bonus was to have Admiral Motti cook and serve our breakfast the
following morning.
After Bath it was off to see another friend in Bristol,
Andrew Dymond from Lightworx. He is very kindly helping me put
together a compilation of all my work since the tender of 12.
When all is done I will be able to show fans this DVD at
future events as many fans ask me what other work I have done,
now they will be able to see for themselves.
That's all now folks - we are off to Holland, Columbus and
then Disney.
Report to follow.

Hi Everyone
Another month has passed by, and we are still waiting for the
warmer weather to arrive here in the UK - although its not as
cold as when I flew around the world in Slave 1 last week to get
this magnificent shot of a sunset and the moon at the North
Pole!
Over the Easter weekend we travelled to Wales for the Fantasy
Mania show in Newport. It is a beautiful drive to Wales, and as
we left really early the roads were empty. One spectacular view
is going over the Severn Bridge into Wales, not quite as
dramatic as the bridge into San Francisco, but pretty close.
The Show was very well attended, and was the first appearance
for many of the actors.
This last weekend was a trip to Cesenatico in Italy, not
quite close enough to visit our family, but it was great to see
another part of Italy. We flew into Ancona Airport in our
private jet loaned by a dear friend called Ryan......and were
met by Mattia and Alessandro who drove us to Cesenatico, and in
good Italian fashion straight to a restaurant for a delicious
lunch. Our hotel was nearby, and very grand - in fact it was
called the 'Grand Hotel'
We had the rest of the afternoon free to wander round the
town, and see the beach - it was great to feel the sunshine and
some warmth.
In the early evening we went to the venue for some
interviews, and then it was off again for another feast of
typical Italian pizza.
The following morning was free so we took advantage and
explored the port and canals. Cesenatico became a port in 1314
and in September 1502 Leonardo da Vinci was called in to help
find a solution to the perennial problem of sand bars silting up
the harbour entrance - he wasn't just an artist but an architect
and engineer too. The canal also houses the Museo della
Marineria that has some very colourful old fishing boats.
After yet another - can you guess? - yes lunch it was finally
time to join the convention. The Yavin Con is a small gathering
of fans of all genres. They get together for a four day weekend
and have a great time. I kicked off with another interview this
time with Rita.
The fans then gathered to get their autographs, most of them
spoke pretty good English - better than my Italian anyway.
After the autograph session there was a Q & A for one and a
half hours. The audience were so appreciative, and the committee
very kindly presented me with their convention t-shirt and a
presentation box.
After dinner the games began in a very big way - I have never
seen such a large trivial pursuit board!
I was tempted to join in, but the questions were way above
me, even when translated into English.....
I met the artist Filippo Rossi who drew a rather splendid
cartoon of Boba Fett for the Yavin Con calendar. The colouring
was done by Stephano Vimercati.
'The fans then gathered to get their autographs,
most of them spoke pretty good English - better than my Italian
anyway'
Off to Dallas this weekend, so will catch up in a couple of
weeks time.
Ciao, and keep smiling.

Hello everyone
Here is the latest update to keep you entertained, amused and
on the edge of your seats. Since I last spoke to you Maureen and
I went to the annual "Star Wars " day at Honiton in Devon. This
was the tenth consecutive show the Exe-Wing Fundraisers have
organised and the day was celebrated in honour of Michael Sheard
who died last year. The attendance was amazing, over and above
all previous shows and soon the Honiton sports hall was
bursting. All day long the public continued to arrive.
Two costume contests were held, one for children and one for
adults. The children's entries totaled around 40 to begin with,
but as with little ones (some in nappies) a few chickened out at
the last moment.
There was a good mixture of guests and it was a rare
opportunity to catch up with news from costume designer John
Mollo from the original trilogy. Both Julian Glover and the
glamorous Caroline Blakiston were a welcome treat for the fans
as they appear at very few shows due to their heavy work load.
Kenny Baker was his usual jolly self and Warwick Davies and
family were having a great time. Warwick kept the audience glued
to their seats with some amusing games which involved all the
actors on stage.
It was nice to see Christian Simpson who was not only in
episodes I and III but was Hayden Chistiansen's stand-in. Master
of ceremonies was Jerome Blake who had a hard act to follow in
the shoes of the late Michael Sheard, but did an excellent job.
Replacements for two guests who could not attend were the
reliable duo, Paul Blake and Garrick Hagon.
The Saturday night dinner for fans and guests alike was a
great way to get to know everyone and many of us wore colourful
bow ties in honour of Michael.
The UK Garrison Trooper of the year was Pete TK2890 and a
much deserved award it was.
At last I met up with the unmasked Darth Vader who graced us
with his presence on the red carpet outside the Odeon Leicester
Square for the premiere of Revenge of the Sith. Now I have
unmasked the Dark Lord I will release his name to you all so he
can start his own Fan Club!
The "Star Wars" day was a magnificent event and thanks goes
to Andy Preston,Wendy Duffield and Andy Spencer. There are many
other people to thank who were involved with the organisation of
the Fundraising so this is to say you are not forgotten.
Maureen and I stayed in Honiton the night after the show as
it is a long drive back to London. On our journey home we
decided to stop at one of the great landmarks of England - the
mysterious Stonehenge - a prehistoric monument that was
constructed between 3050 BC and 1500 BC.
There was a time not so long ago when you could walk right up
to the stones, but due to vandalism and graffiti a security rope
keeps people at a good distance away.
I always try and give you a bit of history with the updates
so I hope you have enjoyed the photos of Stonehenge. Well that's
all for now, keep visiting and I will keep writing up the latest
news. Before I close I am giving you the exe-wing fundraisers
website where you can download the tribute they made for Michael
Sheard

UPDATE:
FEBRUARY 17,
2006 |
Hi Everyone
First of all I would like to thank all of you who sent me
Birthday wishes and cards - another year older and hopefully
wiser. One friend and fan in Germany who is a brilliant artist
sent me this card and Tracy from Arizona sent me a 3D Boba Fett
collage and Boba Fett watch for my collection.
As there has been a great response to the offer of a free
signed photo with every purchase of my book 'Flying Solo' I will
be extending the offer beyond February 28th until further
notice.
Apologies for those of you expecting another sunset - the
weather is pretty miserable here in the UK and we are lucky if
we see the sun at all this time of the year.
I started off 2006 with a show in Colchester which was the
first of its kind in that area. There were many guests from Star
Wars and other TV and film productions but the most famous star
of all was Sponge Bob.
At the beginning of February I had a request to visit
Loughborough University to mingle and chat with the students.
When we arrived at the hotel we were told the event would be
starting at 11.00 p.m. - I was a little taken aback as I am
usually in bed at that time. Anyhow I arrived and was shown to
the Students Union bar where there were around 2000 students. It
was a little difficult to talk as the music was so loud, and
even more difficult to sign autographs because of the dimmed
lighting. However many students were pleasantly surprised that
Boba had dared to venture into their hallowed halls of learning.
The evening or rather morning finished around 2.00 a.m - quite
an interesting event and thanks to all the students.
Last weekend it was off to sunny Bournemouth (it actually was
very sunny) to attend the 12th Star Fleet Ball, and what a ball
Maureen and I had. The event takes place in an hotel so everyone
comes for the whole weekend. On Saturday night there was a
themed ball where everyone dressed as pirates - sorry forgot the
camera. Most of the guests were from Star Trek headed by Kate
Mulgrew who is a lovely lady and great fun as were all the
female guests.
Also attending was Bobby Clark (his first visit to England)
who played The Gorn in the Star Trek episode Arena. Rounding up
the rest of the guests were some of the cast from the new Star
Trek Voyages including John Carrigan, James Cawley, Jeff Quinn,
Ron Boyd and Andy Bray.
What would a Star Trek convention be without Richard Arnold
the Star Trek encyclopaedia. Thanks to Annie, B and James who
worked very hard with their crew to make it a wonderful weekend.
That's all for now - my next update will be in March with the
possibility of a sunset!

Hi everyone,
A VERY HAPPY AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL
I hope everybody had a great holiday and did not indulge too
much! We spent a quiet Christmas with our son Robbie and his
family here in the UK. Baby Joss is growing rapidly, and keeping
everyone awake at night. After Christmas we travelled to Italy
to spend the New Year with Jamie and his family. Italy can be
quite cold this time of year especially where they live high up
on a hill so it was plenty of winter woollies and hot soup to
keep warm. It was birthday time again and Connie was two years
old on New Years Eve so plenty of chocolate cake.
In Italy New Years Eve is celebrated by firework displays at
midnight, and the children had their own little display earlier
in the evening. From the house we were lucky enough to be able
to watch all the displays going on in the town below.
When in Italy I am always amazed at the spectacular sunsets,
so here is yet another one.
Two hours drive away is the mediaeval town of Siena. We set
off early one morning to visit this beautiful place. We spent
the whole day exploring, starting off at the Piazza Del Campo -
famous for the Il Palio horserace which first ran in 1238.
Also in the Piazza Del Campo is Palazzo Pubblico with the
Torre Del Mangia which dates back to 1250.
We next visited the famous Duomo (Cathedral) of Santa Maria.
The library attached to the Duomo had the most incredible
ceiling - it was founded in 1495 and houses some wonderful
books.
Back home again, with the children tucked up in bed it was
time to sample one of Jamie's famous Italian dishes, steak
cooked on the open fire.
On our last day the weather was warm enough to sit outside at
the seaside resort of San Vincenzo.
That's all for now - my next update will be in February -
take care and speak to you soon.
